The summer following Shanin's Twentieth birthday, she posted a phone recording video of her singing and playing Ukulele to the internet. Within hours the video went viral. A huge uproar of new fans demanded more music. This lead Shanin to launch a Kickstarter to raise the funds necessary to record her first full length album. Receiving donations world wide, Shanin exceeded her goal, successfully raising over $10k through her loyal fan base. Her first body of work was birthed - Soul Child -

Following the self released record, Shanin was noticed by several independent companies. One of which, funded her first international tour of Europe and published several of her songs in a self-help Ukulele book. Another, which sponsored and filmed her first music video with a full production crew.
